Halloween Crafts with mommy

This Halloween, there’s no need to rush out to Spencer’s, Party City, Costco, or any other Halloween decoration store to purchase expensive decorations for your home. It’s time to put your creativity to the test, take a look at the materials that you can reuse in your home, and have a haunting good time.

If you’re in the process of selling your home, this is the perfect time to promote your house and make it stand out from the crowd. Word of Mouth Marketing still works and if there’s a parent that is wowed by your creativity, they will recommend their friends and their friend’s children to check out the home. Before you know it, you may be visited by a potential buyer who is interested in buying a home.

Luminarias

This is a great way to reuse your children’s paper lunch bags to make luminarias. Begin by writing down haunted words like “Boo!” and “Scream!” with a black marker on the bags. Next, stamp the bags with a dollar store Halloween stamp. Add sand or rice at the bottom of the bags and place votive candles in them for an eerie welcome to your home.

Lighted labyrinth

Use iTunes or YouTube to turn on some spooky music. Next, turn your garage into a labyrinth by assembling candles of every shape, size, and color and placing them all in there. Make sure to protect your surfaces from any wax that may ooze its way down. Use tin foil when necessary or opt for votive candles instead.

Stacked pumpkins

Take a few garden urns or flowerpots and stack two or three pumpkins one on top of the other, to make a pumpkin topiary. Cut off the stems and use hot glue to add security so that they don’t fall. Another option is to carve the pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns and adding candles inside to make them spooky. When Halloween is done, you can use thee decorations for food – pies, pastries, soup etc. Delicious!

Boo Bottles

For the next couple of week, leading up to Halloween, go through your recycling bin and collect a few glass bottles (Perrier Bottles are ideal). Remove the labels and caps from the bottles. Use spray-paints to add white colour to them, then draw scary faces on with black marker. Finally, throw in colourful straws for cute centerpieces.

Spooky Ghosts

You can’t have Halloween without ghosts. Use Styrofoam balls, some cheesecloth and a black marker to create hanging spooky for your porch or home. Shredding the cheesecloth at the bottom gives your ghosts a spooky and haunted look.

The most important thing to remember is to take pictures and share them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and other social networking sites. The best photos are those of the HDR variety, as they showcase your home in the best light.
