Can you believe it is already December 1st? Christmas is quickly approaching. The 2016 Flamborough Santa Claus Parade was well received with so many great floats. Many people are taking advantage of the warm weather to hang their Christmas lights and pick out the perfect Christmas tree and soon enough Christmas will be heard ‘round the clock on radio stations. It can be such a wonderful time of year.
As we dive into December enjoying all the wonderful moments with our families and friends, it is important to think about those in need. For some, Christmas is a very hard time of the year, with some parents stretching every penny to make those magical moments for their children.
The Good Shepherd has passed along a ‘wish list’ of items for their Women and Children’s Services. “The women in our care often arrive at our centre with very little so they need items to set up a home for themselves and their children,” says Ruth Maudsley, coordinator of the Sponsor Our Families program at the Good Shepherd. The Women and Children’s Services Centre is in need of alarm clocks, radios, towels, sheet sets of all sizes, dish sets, cutlery, kettles, shower curtains with hooks, journals, slippers and pyjamas and underwear of all sizes. “We truly appreciate your generosity and kindness,” says Maudsley. We are putting together boxes of goods to donate to the Good Shepherd.
If you would like to contribute and give at this time of year, we would be happy to pick up any of your donations to add to their delivery. You can also drop donations off the Woolcott office located at 81 Highway 5 West, just west of Clappison’s Corners in Waterdown. You can also drop donations off at the RE/MAX Escarpment office located at 4121 Fairview St. in Burlington. Donations will be collected until Monday Dec. 19.
