Packer, the Woolcott Team’s sponsored service dog-in-training, has just turned one!
Packer is a pup in the National Service Dogs (NSD) training program and will likely work with children with autism or those with post-traumatic stress disorder once her training is complete.
Packer, who turned one just before the holidays, celebrated with her NSD friends with treats, pup cakes and cookies.
“Packer has been doing very well,” says Adrienne Cascioli, Packer’s puppy raiser. “She is a very sweet and loving puppy that loves her kibbles so much.”
“She picks up on new tasks and skills very quickly.”
Packer is working hard on staying focused when she sees another dog and staying in one position during meet and greets.
“She loves her belly rubs so much resulting in her rolling on her back when new people pet her,” explains Adrienne.
More recently, Packer has been working with Adrienne on a few new skills such as building up her duration of maintaining a “sit, stay” or “down, stay” and recall with dog distractions.
“We love being able to support Packer through her journey with NSD,” says Jayne Woolcott, sales representative, Re/Max Escarpment Woolcott Realty Inc. “Receiving the positive updates on her training warms our hearts as there is such a need for these service dogs across Canada and North America.”
