Winter is officially here and it’s awfully tempting to snuggle in blankets sipping hot chocolate for the next three or four months. However, that would mean missing out on some of the best things to do in Burlington. From outdoor skating to frosty 5K runs, Burlington has many activities to get you into the winter spirit!

Come cold weather, many runners head indoors to the comfort of their treadmills. Why not brave the cold and celebrate the near end of winter by signing up for the Chilly Half Marathon and Frosty 5K? Jog through the beautiful downtown core and along the lake, and finish up with a bowl of chili. Register here!

Lowville Winter Games

11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Lowville Winter Games are back again this year and offer plenty of fun for the whole family! From crafts with Momstown to learning how to log-saw, and from food trucks to horse-drawn carriage rides, all family members are bound to be entertained. The City of Burlington is even offering a free shuttle ride from the Halton District School Board parking lot Lowville Park, making it easier to enjoy all the activities. Outdoor Skating at Bronte Creek

What’s more Canadian than drinking hot chocolate and skating outdoors? Take in the beauty of Bronte Creek Provincial Park while catching up with family and friends. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the toboggan hill and the approximately 5 km of cross-country ski trails.

Annual Maple Syrup Festival
Weekends from February 28, 2015 to March 29, 2015
9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If none of the above activities are enough to bring you into the cold, then you must surely tru the Annual Maple Syrup Festival at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Tour guides dress in turn-of-the-century attire, pony rides take you through the park and, of course, fresh maple sugar. Visitors can also fill up with a pancake meal and visit the gift shoppe to get their fill of everything maple!
