Welcome to Ancaster
The picturesque, European village of Ancaster is one of the most quaint and charming places to call home.
One of the oldest European communities in Ontario, Ancaster’s initial growth was thanks to its easily-accessible water power – the need for which changed over the decades, but gave Ancaster it’s early prominence and village feel. These days, Ancaster real estate serves as more of a bedroom community for residents who typically work in Hamilton, Burlington, Missisauga, or even Toronto.
Living in Ancaster, you’ll find plenty of older homes in the village core, but the current growth here can be found on the east side of the Highway 403 (with suburban commercial developments like the Power Centre or residential projects like the Meadowlands).
In Ancaster, you have the historic village core, the walking trails and a variety of restaurants, pubs, and shops. This is an area that is flourishing with small businesses, as well as other local area amenities for shopping that make it perfectly charming and convenient.
Taking a stroll through Ancaster? While you’re enjoying the unique village ambiance, you can have lunch at Rousseau House, dinner at Cavallo Nero, or just a quick treat at the Purple Pony Ice Cream Shop.

Need to find your way around? Here are some of the best neighbourhoods in Ancaster you deserve to know about:
Ancaster Heights/Mohawk Meadows/Weywood
This is one of the more established areas in Ancaster, typically characterized by the larger mature lots. Scenic views, hiking trails, and easy walking distance to town amenities. You’re most likely to find either historic homes or large estates in this area.
Known for its affordable deatched homes, with some condo apartments and townhomes, this area is spearheaded by an influx of newly-built homes (and plans to build more), that is just south of the historic Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
Key to this area is access to all the major highways. You have both Highway 6 and the 403 close by, which results in this small pocket of detached homes being incredibly sought-after real estate. There are even new homes here in this tight-knit, charming community.
Maple Lane Annex
Established families will love the newly-constructed Bishop Tonnos High School in Maple Lane Annex. Most of this area is newer construction, right at the southern tip of Ancaster and filled with loads of convenient amenities (like the new commercial development anchored by a Walmart). Come home to this great family area!
Welcome to the most-desired area in all of Ancaster. All it takes is a quick drive down Lover’s Lane to see the stunning estate properties that make up this area – leading all the way to Sulphur Springs and the Dundas Conservation Area. A nature’s paradise, with beautifully mature large lots, this is an ideal place for families.
The majority of homes here are detached, on quiet, mature survey streets. Most folks will tell you that the Morgan Firestone Arena and Ancaster High School are what drive families to this area, with the Mineral Spring Trails offering a lot of fun for outdoorsy types.
This is where you’re going to find the majority of rural properties in Ancaster. While there is a smaller pocket of newer construction, this location is perfect for a little bit of peace of quiet – and the annual fall fair – which makes it perfect for families.
One of Ancaster’s most scenic areas! Sulphur Springs is considered to be rural, but it feels more residential due to how close it is to many area amenities. In between Dundas and Ancaster, there are plenty of conservation lands, trails, and scenic points – it’s the height of country living, and it might just be perfect for you and your family.
