August is packed with reasons to get out and enjoy everything Hamilton and Burlington have to offer. From waterfront food festivals and outdoor concerts and everything in between, there is something happening almost every weekend.

Festival of Friends

Festival of Friends is celebrating its 50th anniversary with three days of free live music at Gage Park. This year’s festival features 4 stages, 150+ vendors, a huge midway and entertainment for younger visitors. The 2026 lineup includes Feist, Dallas Smith and a special anniversary celebration on August 2nd featuring familiar Canadian artists.

Movies Under the Stars

Bring your favourite movie snacks and settle in for a free outdoor screening of Hoppers on the big screen. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets and check the weather before heading out, as the event is weather permitting. Can’t make this one? There are multiple dates for throughout the summer, you can find one that works for you!

Lakeside à la Carte

Spend an afternoon sampling some of the best food and drinks the region has to offer, all with the Burlington waterfront as your backdrop. Lakeside à la Carte brings together more than 45 restaurants, wineries and breweries for an elegant garden party complete with live entertainment. Funds raised support local charities and programs for children throughout the community.

Music in the Garden: The Sheepdogs

The Sheepdogs are bringing their signature Canadian rock sound to Hendrie Park, one of the RBG’s most beautiful outdoor spaces. Chloë Doucet will join the band for an evening of live music surrounded by the gardens. Doors open at 6:30pm, the show begins at 8pm and the concert will take place rain or shine.

Burlington VegFest

Whether you follow a vegan lifestyle or are simply curious about trying something new, Burlington VegFest offers plenty to explore. The free event runs from 11:30am-6:30pm and features delicious plant-based food, workshops, speakers, children’s activities, live music and cruelty-free products from a variety of vendors.

Let’s Go Birding!

See Princess Point from a new perspective during this beginner friendly evening birding session led by the RBG from 5-8pm. Learn to identify Ontario birds by sight, sound and habitat while exploring the trails with an experienced instructor. Registration is required, tickets are $25 plus a $2 service fee and HST. RBG members save 10%.

Dundas Cactus Festival

King Street comes alive for one of the area’s most anticipated summer traditions. The Dundas Cactus Festival fills downtown Dundas with local vendors, food, live music, street entertainment and activities for the entire family. Admission and entertainment are free, making it an easy way to spend a summer afternoon or evening in the Valley Town.

Train Days

All aboard for an afternoon of miniature train ride and local history. Visitors can watch model engines travel along the miniature railroad, take a ride, explore Hamilton’s historic 1859 Waterworks and stop by the activity centre for crafts and games. The event runs from 11am-4pm, with train rides offered until 3pm. The event is free and museum admission is by donation.

Winona Peach Festival

Few events say the end of summer quite like the Winona Peach Festival. This free community tradition brings together midway rides, arts and crafts, children’s programming, live music and plenty of peach inspired treats. Make time for the food court, where you can find festival favourites including peach cobbler, crepes and the must-try peach sundae.

Yoga In the Gardens

Start your Saturday surrounded by the natural beauty of Hendrie Park. These one-hour outdoor Hatha yoga sessions focus on stretching, strengthening, breathing and mindfulness, and are designed to welcome all experience levels. Sessions run from 9-10am each Saturday in August. Bring comfortable clothing, a yoga mat and a water bottle, and remember to register by the morning before your chosen class!
